Disney D23: Live Entryway Mural Installations
Anaheim Convention Center • Multi-Year Live Painting Activation
Event Overview
ARCY partnered with The Walt Disney Company to create a live mural installation at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney’s flagship global fan expo held at the Anaheim Convention Center.
The project was executed as a real-time painting experience during the event, transforming a high-traffic public space into an evolving visual centerpiece that welcomed attendees as they arrived for the showcase.
Location & Audience Exposure
The mural was installed in the main entry courtyard outside the Anaheim Convention Center, a primary circulation zone where all attendees passed through after security screening before entering the expo halls.
This location serves as the event’s central promenade and social hub, hosting daily activations, food trucks, photo opportunities, and large-scale fan gatherings. Over the course of the multi-day event, the artwork was viewed by tens of thousands of attendees, making it one of the most visible creative elements of the experience.
Live Activation & Media Visibility
Painted live throughout the event, the mural functioned as both an art installation and a performance, drawing sustained attention from attendees, photographers, and media outlets.
The entry courtyard is a frequent backdrop for cosplay photography, fan content creation, and press coverage. During one year of the activation, national broadcast media, including Good Morning America, captured content onsite, further amplifying the reach of the installation beyond the physical event.
After dark, the courtyard and mural were elegantly lit, extending visibility and engagement into the evening hours.
Brand Impact
The live mural installation enhanced Disney’s arrival experience by introducing storytelling and spectacle before guests entered the expo, reinforcing the brand’s emphasis on creativity, immersion, and audience engagement.
By combining large-scale public art with live execution in a high-visibility environment, the project generated organic interaction, photo sharing, and sustained visual impact across the event — demonstrating how experiential art can function as a destination, not just a backdrop, within major brand activations.
